A highly anticipated shower

My hair has had a very interesting day. To dress up like Scary Spice for rock star day, I put much mousse in my hair, then I blow dried it upside down. Then, I crimped it as best as I good with a crimping iron and blasted it with about a half can of hair spray! It looked radical, as in radically different from the usual and then just plain radical, too. And, for the soccer game, I sprayed some red color on my hair, as well. It's been exciting. And now, I'm going to wash it all out! I haven't anticipated a shower this much since I can't remember when! Good bye, insane volume!

So, I'm on facebook and I see on my home page, "

Bryan College Come cheer on the Lady Lions Volleyball team tonight as they take on Union college! JV at 5, Varsity at 7! Or, listen to the game live at http://www.bryan.edu/game_broadcast"

Talk about pressure! And I'm not kidding. Yikes.

Lessons learned and other bits

1. Do not leave your three hours of voice practice until two days before it's due. You will quickly hate singing.

2. Do not eat a whole bag of buttered popcorn by yourself while trying to stay awake so you can practice voice. It might make you feel queasy.

3. Beautiful music is not necessarily conducive to completing homework. Thank you, Edgen and Howard for prolonging my busiest night (thus far) this semester! And I mean that sincerely.

4. The Gilmore Girls are absolutely not conducive to completing or even making a slight dent in homework.

5. One can do homework reading while walking briskly on a treadmill, but my head bobs too much when I start to run.

Here are some ads on Craigslist that struck me funny:

"I have 2 large old CRT TV's that I need out of the way. They are both over 30" and very heavy. They don't work and are not fixable, but I bet they would be great fun to drop off of a building or something.
Thanks
Joe "

"FREE CUT DOWN BAMBOO STALKS ( most over 7 feet long).. will need most likley some kind of truck or trailor to haul away. Great for all kinds of things. ... F R E E B A M B O O................... come and get it !!!!!
great for gardens, kids forts, fishing poles ( yes they still make those kind).. "

So, I'm adding some new music to Imeem playlists and Imeem recommends this one band, The Onion Creek Crawdaddies. What?! Well, with an outrageous name like that, I've got to check them out! I find their website and it leads me to MySpace to listen to their music, but I don't keep a MySpace account anymore. Here I'm trying to see if they have a facebook fan page, but Bry-fi doesn't realize how important this is! It keeps making me refresh a bazillion times before it will really open up the facebook page. This is rather frustrating when The Onion Creek Crawdaddies could be on the other side of a correctly loaded web page!
---
The OCO doesn't have a facebook web page. :[ Talk about the disappointment of my life.
(Well, really, there's only one song of there's that appeals to me, "Far Side of Nowhere," and I could buy it on iTunes, if I want. I'll think about it.)

And now, after collecting paragraphs for a whole post over nearly a week, I give you... another post! And, I'm going to bed. :) At midnight! :) That is too much of an accomplishment these days...

In other news,

I have, at this very moment, a styrofoam cup containing mushrooms that were part of the cafeteria's "Chinese" beef and broccoli dish. Yep, I picked out only the mushrooms. Nearly a half cup full.
I'm a musician, I do what I want!

(Upon realizing that those not in my immediate friend group may take this any number of ways, allow me to add that this is simply a ... actually, I have no explanation. But! The "I'm a musician..." is a popular quote amongst those in said friend group, and I do not mean to say that I'm some angst-filled adolescent who does everything and anything to go against the system. Or whatever.)
(Dr. Randle is always quick to remind us, albeit in a joking way, that, according to recent studies, people remain in the adolescent stage up to their 25th year.)

This makes me smile really big everytime I watch it.

Plaid shirts, pinecones, and the Avett Brothers!

I really, really want to take a road trip to see how many states my friends and I could hit up in a week. I guess it'd be best to wait till gas goes down a bit more...
That's what acoustic and folk music does to me. I love it.

How He Loves Us

We sang this song in chapel a couple weeks ago. It was so funny how in the very moments before the words and the music began, I was being caught up in regret and shame from what I have done in the past. It's a sickening feeling, and I was not happy with myself. Yes, I've accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, yes, He has so graciously wiped my slate clean, and, yes, no I have a deep relationship with God, but even though He can forgive and forget what I've done, I often have a hard time with that. And so I was ashamed. In the middle of chapel.

And so I heard the words, and the reality of His love and His mercy and His cleansing forgiveness washed over me, immediately dispelling my self-loathing. It was incredible! And the idea that I can't wallow in this shame and crap because there are more important things! For one, the beauty of that grace, the magnificence of His mercy! How can I hang on to those things when the Almighty has forgiven them? What an insult to Him for me to hovel in my dirty corner with that uncleanliness! He has called me to holiness, He sees me as clean, I have been set free, so be free! Lindsay, let go! Relish in His love! Accept what's been given to you! Walk into what's better, so much better than that pain and sadness. Let go. Be free. That's good.

How He Loves Us, John Mark McMillan

He is jealous for me
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy

When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
I realize just how beautiful you are
And how great your affections are for me

And oh, how He loves us so
Oh, how He loves us
How He loves us so

Yeah He loves us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves

We are His portion, and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking

So Heaven meets Earth like a sloppy, wet kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way

He love us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves

Thank you, Bryan College

It is very important to get back to homework mode after the summer.

Playing dress up with your friends is a great way to come up with new outfits. (Annalise, Elisabeth, and I did this at 1 in the morning and came up with Euro Bohemian, Romantic Outback, and Free-spirited Art Teacher. My roommate voiced her skepticism, well, it was more criticism, as we four were on our way to breakfast. Just then, another girl stopped our group to say, "You all look so cute today!" In your face, Roommate!)

A college-wide BYOB (bring your own bowl) Ramenfest accompanied by folk music is the best idea I've heard of in a long time. Racing to finish three bowls of hot and spicy, overdone Ramen noodles is probably the worst idea I've heard of in a long time.

I recommend looking up aradhnamusic.com for some awesome Indian tunes.

That's all I can think of for now.
