It's a good thing I got so much practice functioning with little sleep in college.

Well I have made it!  Three shifts in a row of 10 hard-working hours early in the morning!  I was exhausted after the first shift and fell asleep on the couch within 20 minutes of being home, but the other two days were quite okay.  Last night I went to bed before 8:30pm but something woke me up around 10.  I popped out of bed and started dressing for work.  My sister heard me and peeked inside, told me I had five more hours of sleep to get, and told me she loves me.  I'm so glad she caught me before I'd gotten all ready; that would have been awful.  Thankfully, I went right back to sleep.

I have a full week this week and Thursday will be my 9th day in a row working, but then comes a great weekend.  I've already purchased tickets for Harry Potter 7!  Are you going to see it?  (I'm also looking forward to catching Mega Mind and Tangled sometime soon.  They both look hilarious!)  By the way, the best part about working early before the store opens is that there's no customers so you get to wear street clothes and turn on your own music.  My two co-workers and I took turns playing what we like.  One provided classic rock and the other, Southern gospel.  You could probably guess what I brought.  When "I and Love and You" began to play, my body was still working on setting new planograms, but my soul stopped for a moment and said, "this is good."

It's been a huge week and a half of blessings!  My two best friends, Millie and Sweeny, got engaged, my other two good friends Elijah and Britney did, too, and Millie's now a published poet!  Two of her poems are in this month's edition of the Christendom Review, and they are indeed lovely and totally worth the read (not just because she's my friend, either!).  Peter Pan is one of my top 5 favorite books, and Millie's first poem brings sunshine and knowing smiles.  Her second poem puts the brakes on my mind so that I can absorb and recognize and connect with the emotions and the things that are deeper than emotions that are exposed.  I am very familiar with the themes of both poems.

I have some other friends who have a band, Brock's Folly.  I've been a big fan for a year or so now, and I'm so glad they've been able to put up a few of their songs!  The guy mixing their stuff mixed Sufjan Steven's music, too.  So cool!  If you're looking for some laid back music, you should check them out here!

I was browsing along the internet while recouping from work today and came across some photos. I want to show you some faces I fell in love with the second I saw them.

Also, check out this interesting photo.  I like the way it shows the unspoken divide in an obvious yet artistic way.

In parting, would you watch this video?  It's very inspirational and encouraging.  Please take it to heart.  Yes, he's relating these principles to the World Cup, but they are true and important principles nonetheless and can and should be applied to all areas of life.

What do you think?

  1. Wow, that sounds like a tough few days. I have the same sleeping problem... whenever I try to go to bed early I always wake up a couple hours later and then can't go back to sleep.

Those are really cool photos. I like the one of the Afghan guy selling oranges... although it's kind of sad.
