Korean Beauty Product Reviews: The Face Shop

One of my favorite things about Korea was how eager and capable it was in helping me learn how to take care of my skin.  My face has clung to the acne of my youth for a long time, and only last year in Korea did I finally become confident in having it under control.  This is thanks to the many products available at excellent prices (which won't happen now that they have to be imported to me in America) and thanks to how freakin' Many cosmetic shops there were!

The Face Shop, Inisfree, Etude house, Tony Moly, Missha, Skin food, Mizon, Holika Holika, Nature Republic, Too Cool For School, Aritaum, It's Skin... There are a lot, and they are everywhere.  Well, there weren't any in my small neighborhood, but around my church, my friend's house, my dance classes, basically every where else but my neighborhood, you could find more than a couple on every street, it seemed.

A little sister who used to work there took me to The Face Shop to show me around, advise me, and to make sure the cashier gave me lots of samples because I was a foreigner.  After that visit, this was and still is my main cosmetics store.  Here are the products I used.  I really liked them, save the zit zapper.  I liked them so much, I searched for a Stateside store.  I found one, too!  There's one an hour and a half from me in Duluth, Atlanta, in the Mega Mart of the Gwinnett Place Mall!

Face Shop masks

Face masks, and for a dollar a pop in Korea
Available on KPopTown for $1.50

Face Shop HD+ BB cream

My first and favorite BB cream!  I still have some of it. :)
Available at Amazon for $15

Face Shop face lotion product review

Face lotion, to be applied after cleanser and toner but before cream
I'm really happy to still be using this now.  It's one of the products I was able to find in Duluth.  Happy, happy
.
Available on Amazon for $17.33
Face Shop Ultra Cream product review

My friend suggested using this cream especially in the winter because it's so moisturizing.
Available on KPopTown for $15.90

Face Shop chia seed cream product review

Here's another cream I used, but during the summer time. It's made with chia seed water and is just as nice.
Available on KPopTown for $18.90

Face Shop aquapack product review

My friend also recommended a moisturizing sleeping pack.  Using it every other night or so is extra goodness for your face.  This is another product I still have some of.  Yay!
Available on Ebay for $3.94
Face Shop zit cream product review

This zit cream didn't seem to work too well for me, but maybe it's because my skin is a little different from Korean skin.  Or maybe it's because my face just really likes keeping its zits.  Stupid.
Available on Amazon for $4.20
Face Shop nose pore strips product review

I had never used pore strips before, and working with these guys was pretty cool.  I liked getting to see that there was gunk coming out of my pores because it showed me that the nose strips were working.
Aloe and Coal
Available on KPopTown for $1.90
Face Shop exfoliate product review Water in Pomegranate and White Jewel Pearl

These are exfoliates.  The one on the left is better for summer time because it's a little more abrasive.  The one on the right is best for winter.  These were another fun product to use because as I massaged the gel over my face, it picked up dead skin and I could feel it becoming more grainy.  I love the satisfaction that comes with immediate and tangible results.  :)
Available on Ebay for $9.95 and $11.99

  1. I love being in different places and finding absolute gems like the beauty stores/products you found. Hooray for finding a store near-ish to where you live and an online store!

I wonder if your pimples (zits) could be caused by something you're eating? I've never had pimples or acne, but I know that when I used to eat dairy I always had terrible eczema, as soon as I stopped my eczema cleared up within days. Food for thought! (Pun not intended, haha)

PS. Yay! I can comment again!

    1. I know my acne has gotten much better as I've grown older. I never thought of changing my diet. I always figured they were a result of my pubescent hormones... (I Hate the word "pubescent.") Oh, and my cycle. That doesn't help much, either.

The times when I Have tried drinking more green tea or when I've eaten lots of fruits and vegetables over a season, well, I was already older and I already had much clearer skin.

      Hm.

There's also the shop w2beauty, with free shipping worldwide. Where I live now there are Korean shops so for now I don't have problem to buy them but in the future, when I move, I'll definitely buy online too. Thanks for your post on The Face Shop. I went today and I bought a bamboo sheet mask. I'll try it tomorrow.

  4. How are the prices? Also, i'm thinking about making the trip to this particular store as it's not that far from me. They place it's in confuses me? It's in a korean grocery store, in a mall? Please explain where i can find it exactly, don't want to get lost! Thanks!!

    1. Sure, no problem!

The products are imported, so they're going to be a bit more expensive than they are in Korea. The face masks are $1 in Korea, and they're $2 here, but I can't remember the other prices. I do know that they're not too expensive for me to stop buying them.

I was confused when I looked for this place, too. In Gwinnett Place Mall, there's one large grocery store called Mega Mart. On the first floor of Mega Mart are the groceries and some cosmetic shops. That's where the Face Shop is. It took me a while to find it, but I'm sure, if you ask, anyone can help you get there. Good luck!

    1. I haven't tried it myself, and there are mixed reviews online. I personally wouldn't have a problem using them, but I can't give you a definite answer. If you use them, let me know how it goes!

a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to
come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
