Argan Oil Hair Mask Review: Sister Edition

This week's real life recommendation!
(Click here for this week's recommended links.)

This thing works, guys.  I'm glad I had the idea to wrangle my sister Taylor into this project, because this product made such a difference in her hair.  We've got a survey, before and after pictures, and great results today, woohoo!  Let's get started!

What products do you use and how often do you use them?

T: I use Suave with keratin infusion shampoo and conditioner.  I wash my hair every day or maybe 5 times a week.

L: I use Organix coconut shampoo and conditioner every other day or less.  I use homemade dry shampoo on my off days.  I also use a Japanese hair treatment a couple times a month or less.

How do you dry/style your hair, and how often do you do that?

T: If I wash my hair in the morning, I’ll blow dry and straighten it.  If I wash it at night, I'll let my hair air dry as I sleep then straighten it in the morning.  Today, though, I just brushed it until it dried.  Most times, I just let it air dry and then I straighten it.

L: Every other day (or less), when I wash my hair, I will usually gently towel dry for a few seconds then blow dry until 85% dry, then go to sleep.  Once a week or so, I will blow dry my hair using my boar bristle brush until it’s 100% dry.  I haven’t used a straightener in at least 6 months or so.  I typically give my hair a brush in the morning, and I’m good to go.

Describe your hair (texture, health, etc.)

T: Thin and fine and fragile.  And I have at least an inch of split ends.

L: Thick, not fine, but not very coarse.  If I blow dry it right, I can get some great volume.  My hair is pretty healthy these days.

AFTER ARGAN OIL Hair MASK TREATMENT

How was your experience with the treatment?

T: Well, a dog tried to eat my hair afterwards because the treatment looks like frosting and smells like frosting.  I was very liberal with my application, and it seemed a little hard to rinse out, but I was rinsing my hair in a sink.

L: Looks like frosting, smells like frosting, and feels like frosting.  (It was really hard for me to not taste it.)  It worked the mask into my hair just fine and rinsed it out just fine, too.  I chose to rinse in the shower.

Describe any changes.

T: It’s soft now, and my hair smells really good.  The split ends are less noticeable.  My hair looks less dry.  My split ends are usually really dry and are a different color, but now my hair is all one color.
L: My hair is really soft and smooth, but I can’t see much of a difference.  Holy crap, though, Taylor’s hair looks… healthy!

We took the after pictures in artificial light, which makes it even hard to distinguish changes, and I'm sorry for thatI know it's hard to see in the pictures, but the difference in Taylor's hair was so stark!  It went from obviously damaged at the ends to looking healthy and smooth.  I sent some of the hair mask home with her to try again later, and she reported that after a second application a week later, the results were just as good.  The mask didn't make a drastic change in my hair, but if your hair is damaged, I can confidently recommend this product as a hair beautifier!
